A few weekends ago I shot a bike race about an hour and a half from LA. I shot a commissioned project at a LA nightclub the night before until 1am, slept 3 hours and my alarm went off at 4am for this shoot. I drove out to this race and was shooting by sunrise. I was exhausted but I realized how alive it makes me feel to go to such great lengths to shoot personal projects. I was in a slight artist slump until that weekend, but after shooting this I felt like a warrior.

I walked out of my door the other day and found this guy. Apparently he lives on my block. Gotta love living in Hollywood.

Rande Gerber (husband to Cindy Crawford) shot at his restaurant Cafe Habana in Malibu, CA for the Wall Street Journal. December 2013.
I shot composer and wolf activist Helene Grimoud in Los Angeles for the Wall Street Journal. She was pretty impressive. She was one of those people that is a true artist, on a complete other wavelength than most human beings. She wasn’t really into having her portrait taken, despite her complete natural and effortless beauty. She cares much more about her efforts to save the wolves than she did any press or media attention. I appreciated how completely authentic and unaffected she was.
