  1. I shot a Sweet Sixteen expo in Los Angeles this past weekend. I’ve never seen so many ruffles in my life…

  2. A couple of weeks ago I converted my dining room into a little photo studio. A friend loaned me some lighting gear that he rarely uses- so I have been in the depths of lighting study. I have done a lot of self portraits, but I have also had friends and acquaintances drop by for some time with me, my camera and my lights. It’s been really fun. I feel like I am learning a lot and figuring out what I like the looks of. I’m still in the middle of it but hoping that I emerge with a really strong understanding of what I can create with strobes and all of the accessories.

  4. I have a new story out in the latest issue of Monocle magazine. It’s an interview with M+B Gallery owner Benjamin Trigano about the latest Alex Prager show. 5. A few weekends ago I shot a bike race about an hour and a half from LA. I shot a commissioned project at a LA nightclub the night before until 1am, slept 3 hours and my alarm went off at 4am for this shoot. I drove out to this race and was shooting by sunrise. I was exhausted but I realized how alive it makes me feel to go to such great lengths to shoot personal projects. I was in a slight artist slump until that weekend, but after shooting this I felt like a warrior.

  7. I walked out of my door the other day and found this guy. Apparently he lives on my block. Gotta love living in Hollywood. I walked out of my door the other day and found this guy. Apparently he lives on my block. Gotta love living in Hollywood.

  10. I shot composer and wolf activist Helene Grimoud in Los Angeles for the Wall Street Journal. She was pretty impressive. She was one of those people that is a true artist, on a complete other wavelength than most human beings. She wasn’t really into having her portrait taken, despite her complete natural and effortless beauty. She cares much more about her efforts to save the wolves than she did any press or media attention. I appreciated how completely authentic and unaffected she was.
